Carotid Artery Resection and Bypass with Gore-Tex

Abstract

|
|
Involvement or attachment of malignant tumors of the head and neck to the carotid artery carries a very poor prognosis. Although some publications suggest that extirpative surgical treatment plays little or no role in prolonging survival, other authors suggest selected patients may profit from more aggressive surgical approach. Recently we experienced 4 cases of carotid resection with reconstruction using Gore-Tex with good results.
